1.0 - General Prayer

Open the heavens Lord and pour us out a blessing.

‘The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.’
Psalm 97v6
Lord cause your tender mercies to be seen by humanity. Open our eyes to behold your beauty. Help us to enquire of you, so that you may direct our thoughts to imagine, the incomprehensible manifold wisdom of God ordained purpose in our lives.
Father show us the beauty in becoming yielded vessels. Help us to appreciate divine timing to allow the process of our dreams to become reality. Develop us to look to you, instead of the resources we don’t have. Increase our levels of obedience so that we may begin to trust you in spite of what we feel or see. Show us how to triumph over the adversary, live in victory and rest, remain and abide in you.
Lord teach us to pray.

Amen.

Give me a fresh supply of strength to do my job. Where I am lacking in ideas or skills please guide me and teach me. Help me to use the gifts that you have blessed me with, and I pray that my work will bring you glory.

Give me a peace that surpasses all understanding and help me to commit every situation to you regarding my job, In Jesus Name.

3.0 - God’s heart for prayer

Let’s pray.

Heavenly Father I come before you in adoration and humility, acknowledging your sovereignty as Lord. In Jesus name I ask you to mould me and give me a heart submitted to your divine will and purpose. Show me how to love you with all my mind, strength and whole being. Direct and lead me to fulfil the purpose for which you created me each day. I recognise my human weakness and ask for grace and mercy to keep me throughout each day. Help me to submit to the Godly authorities you have placed over my life. Let any darkness in my life be penetrated by your light. Give me a love and burden for the things of God. I pray to be fruitful in every good work and a faithful steward of all you have entrusted to me. Thank you for calling me according to your purpose before time began; I give you the glory, honour and praise. I commit myself to the foot of Calvary’s cross.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen

4.0 - A prayer for a closer walk with God
We all know that prayer changes life, circumstances and situation. Prayer is the key that opens every door and it is the way we communicate to the Father. I was reading in First Kings about the Ark of the Covenant and the Cherubim. The way the Children of Israel in the Old Testament had to carry around and handle the Ark. Even the importance of how the Cherubim were positioned on the Ark. God told them how He wanted the Ark kept and by whom. I saw this verse of scripture in I Kings 6:23-36, it blessed me so much that I wrote a prayer about it. I just want to share this with you:

"Lord, build my inner temple and set Your Ark in my soul. Make my inner sanctuary holy; set your Cherubim inside my inner room. Stretch out the wings of the Cherubim so that the wings can guard my heart. Carve the figure of the Cherubim Palm trees and Open flower in the entrance of my heart. Build my inner court with rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beam".

It is so important to protect our heart from the issues of life. If we took on board all the issues whether it is political, general and spiritual we would be a nervous wreck but we ask Our Father to build us up with His tools, so that no one especially the enemy can rob us of our joy and peace for we are well protected. The materials used were very important for building God's temple in the Old Testament. We can still use them today so when the Wind blows we can still stand because we have the rows of cedar beam and hewn stones in our inner court. Just use the tools listed below and others; go ahead and create your own prayer and see what marvellous things Our Father can do. It is good just to have that heart to heart talk with God, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 5:20). At the end of the day we truly do not need to worry.

The Words like Ark, Cherubim's are symbolic and we can still use them today. See meanings below:

Inner Temple: - Our inner being, that secret nature of our heart. This where we worship and feel that inner peace.

Ark of the Covenant: - A rectangular box made of acacia wood. It served as the meeting point in the inner sanctuary where God revealed His will.

Cherubim: - Class of winged angels. In the Old Testament it is the name of a class of winged angel who functioned primarily as guards or attendants. (Gen 3:24)

Palm trees: - a tall unbranched tree with a tuft of leaves at the crown. It typifies grace and uprightness (Psalm 92:12).

Hewn Stone: - This is when stone is cut or chopped with an axe in particular shape. Christians building have stones incorporated in the temple which Christ supports and heads.

Cedar Beam: - Highly esteemed timber that grew abundantly on Mount Lebanon. This is used in great building and was symbolic for Grandeur. It is a very good quality timber (Psalm 92:12).

6.0 - A Prayer of Repentance

Dear Jesus, humbly I bow before your presence, realising that you are a Holy God who loves the sinner but hates his sins. You have said that no one who comes to you will be turned away from your presence.

Lord you are a God full of compassion and love. You came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance, and with that invitation I am coming to you today acknowledging my sins and transgressions, desiring that you would cast them into the sea of forgetfulness. Lord, I desire to be set free form the bondage and enslavement of Satan. For too long he has kept me bound and I now want to be set free to serve you.

As I turn around to face you today Lord Jesus here are my inadequacies… forgive me of all my sins and failings, create within me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me, make me pure before you. Let my heart be as wax, for you have said a broken and a contrite heart you will not despise. So melt my heart and make me real, as I surrender myself to your Lordship. Let your cleansing stream which flowed from Calvary’s Cross now flow through my entire being, and make me holy thine, as I bow my knees in submission.

I accept your cleansing in my life Lord Jesus. I accept your forgiveness by faith as I confess my sins. Wash me with your blood and I shall be as white as snow. Grant me the spirit of Godly sorrow and repentance so that I can be made whole and free to worship and praise you and to love and obey you. Transform my life into that which you desire me to be, and make me wholly thine forever more. Make me a vessel of honour. Lat your beauty radiate out of my life Lord I pray. Let my life be a testimony of all your sufficient grace. Teach me your ways dear Lord and make me over again today. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN.

7.0 - A Prayer for Students

Dear Lord,

You said in your word I should ‘study to show thyself approved unto God.’  Help me in this area.

I pray for your guidance in my choice of subjects, for you know the way I should take.  Help me to set aside time and energy in my studies.  Cause me to be the head and not the tail in my class.

Lord I desire a good understanding and the ability to retain knowledge as I learn.  Please develop in me analytical and language skills.

Help me to see the benefits of applying myself with the spirit of excellence.  Please give me excellent memory skills and a methodical approach to my studies.  Help me with my presentation skills.
I also pray for favour with my teachers and peers to achieve my goal.  I commit this and all other areas of my life for your glory in Jesus name.
